Ah, the classic chocolate chip cookie! The cookie everyone knows and loves. You can never go wrong with chocolate chip cookies. Make them as a gift for friends, family, and co-workers for the holidays. Give them to loved ones on their birthday. Bake a batch for your Christmas party or as desert for your family or, indulge a little and make a small batch for yourself.
Just the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking is enough to make your mouth water. When you get a whiff of these bad boys it’ll bring back childhood memories of Mom or Grandma baking in the kitchen. The edges are nice and crispy and the center is a mess of warm, gooey, chocolaty-goodness.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Prep time: 10 minutes Baking Time: 8-12 minutes
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1.5 tsp. vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift flour through a flour sifter into a large mixing bowl.
Add in remaining dry ingredients and mix together using a whisk or a mixing tool of your preference.
Once the dry ingredients are blended together, toss in the soften butter. With a mixer blend the butter into the mixture.
With the mixer still on add one egg at a time and the vanilla extract.
Dollop even sized balls of batter onto a greased cookie sheet.
The oven should be done preheating at this point. Place cookies in the oven. They will take about 8-12 minutes to bake depending on the size of the dough balls you made. Bake until edges are nice and brown.
Allow to cool slightly then, place them gently on a cooling rack to complete the cooling process.
- Use white chocolate chips or peanut butter chips instead of chocolate.
- Add a cup of walnuts or pecans to the recipe
- Use red and green m&m’s instead of chocolate chips for a Christmas look.
